Vestibular Therapy
Vestibular therapy uses specialized and individualized exercises to relieve the symptoms and discomfort associated with various dysfunctions and disorders of the inner ear is used for the treatment of balance and dizziness problems.
After careful assessment and identification of the factors triggering the episodes of dizziness, appropriate techniques may be carried out to reduce current symptoms and/or an exercise program will be designed for each patient. This exercise regime is based on the rationale that repeated exposure will decrease the nervous system’s sensitivity to the stimuli. Treatment may include repositioning maneuvers, gaze stability exercises, vestibular/habituation exercises.
Treatment frequency varies based on your unique needs. Most clients experience significant relief within 3-4 treatments, but many do note relief after 1-2 as well.
IMS/Dry Needling
Gunn IMS and dry needling are Western medicine approaches, involve inserting needles directly into muscles and trigger points.
Clinical Counselling
The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) defines counselling as "the skilled and principled use of relationship to facilitate self-knowledge, emotional acceptance and growth and the optimal development of personal resources." By developing a trusting relationship with the clinical counsellor, clients can develop and enhance further knowledge, confidence, and skills to address their presenting issues. Through the use of various research-based methods and approaches, clinical counselling helps clients fully understand their needs and concerns to enhance their own development, home/work/social relationships, transitions in life, and their overall mental health. In counselling, the client and the clinical counsellor work together to discover and utilize the client's capacity to change while ensuring that the client's values and needs are respected.
